

AMMAN: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Health, took part in the ordinary meeting of the Executive Office of the Supreme Council of the Arab Board of Health Specialisations, which was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman in the presence of a number of Arab health ministers and representatives of Arab health bodies.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, stressed the need to advance medical education being a priority in developing the professional lives of doctors providing healthcare to patients which is the primary focus of health systems in all countries of the world. The minister noted that continuing medical education enhances professionalism and develops the scientific and practical knowledge of medical personnel which helps meet the needs of patients and raise the level of health response in the Arab world.
The meeting aimed at improving health services in the Arab world and promoting everything that would contribute to the qualification of specialists in the health fields.
The meeting discussed ways and mechanisms for qualifying health specialists to be highly professional and scientifically competent in accordance with international standards.
It also discussed ways of raising the scientific and practical levels of health service providers in various health professions and specialisations through cooperation with the relevant educational institutions. — ONA
