

MUSCAT: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), represented by its enabling arm, the Industrial Innovation Academy, works to develop industrial innovation and applied research, and build national capabilities in the industrial sector by paying attention to industries emanating from the various economic sectors in the lower sector, and identifying Industrial investment opportunities, adoption of automation technologies and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The Sohar Advanced Industries Production Company, whose operation is supervised by the Academy, is one of the initiatives to support the manufacturing sector, innovation, upgrading advanced industries, and economic diversification to achieve the Oman 2040 vision.
Majid bin Sultan al Hinai (pictured), Executive Director of Sohar Advanced Industries Production Company, said that the factory currently includes three centres: a plastics technology centre, a mold manufacturing centre, and a centre for advanced industries,to develop technological skills and capabilities and design and manufacture models and tools for various industrial products. He pointed out that work is underway to incubate a company specializing in 3D printers, a marine drone company, and a modeling and design company.
Al Hinai explained that the number of employees in the project reaches 150, while the total number of equipment and devices in the project exceeds 100. The company owns more than 25 per cent of the total specialised cutting equipment in the Sultanate of Oman, and it is hoped that all of this will contribute to empowering the local industry and achieving Industrial excellence standards at the local and regional levels. — ONA
