Weather condition weakens; isolated rains to continue

Muscat: The weather conditions that prevailed over the past few days due to upper air low-pressure will weaken over the atmosphere of the Sultanate of Oman starting Tuesday evening.


It may be noted that six people, including three children and a woman, lost their lives in floods that were reported in various parts of northern governorates.


According to Oman Meterology, there are still chances of scattered rain of varying intensity over the governorates of South al Sharqiyah and North al Sharqiyah and the coastal parts of the governorates of North al Batinah, South al Batinah, and Muscat, and rains in parts of the Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates. Most of the impact will be concentrated for today and tomorrow in the South al Sharqiyah, which may witness rain of varying intensity.”


The weather is expected to fully stabilize by Wednesday.


The expected amount of rain on Tuesday is from 10 to 30 mm and there are no indications of new weather conditions.


According to the National Committee for Emergency Management, The number of power outages due to the unstable weather situation was 207 (complete and partial cases), in various governorates, of which 202 interruptions were restored with five outages to be dealt with within the next few hours.


Water, sanitation, and fuel services were not affected by the weather system, and the sector confirms its readiness to deal with any complaints received by the centers.
