Muscat: The proposed Integrated Sports City will come up in the wilayat of Musannah in the South Al Batinah governorate, near the waterfront and a beach resort.

According to the Ministry of Sports, Culture, and Youth (MCSY), the proposed city will have a football stadium, games arena, multi-use facilities, hotels, offices, and museums.

It will be equipped with sports facilities to host international events.

For the benefit of sportspersons, the venue will have training fields, a physiotherapy center, open spaces for outdoor events, a green cover, and a waterfront.

Announcing the Together We Progress Forum, HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, on Monday said, "We have hired a British company with a high international reputation that has provided us with some models, which will be revealed after we make a decision. The location of the sports city will be in Mussanah, near one of the resorts."

It may be noted that His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, in October 2023, instructed government authorities to begin procedures for establishing an integrated Sports City project to attract and host regional and global tournaments and competitions.
