Fueled by his father's habit of tuning in to BBC broadcasts during his childhood and engaging in spirited discussions on current affairs in East Africa, this young boy’s passion for journalism was nurtured and honed over the years. Even during his academic pursuits, including studies in health sciences methodology at the University of San Francisco, his resolve to pursue broadcasting remained unwavering.


This is Abdallah Ahmed al Rubaiey, a stalwart newscaster at Oman TV and Radio, who has illuminated the realm of journalism for over three decades. From his early fascination with BBC news broadcasts to his current role as a paragon of dedication and resilience, Abdallah's journey exemplifies a lifelong commitment to the craft.

He remembers the pivotal moment occurring during his time at the Columbia School of Broadcasting in California, where his exceptional presentation style earned him recognition and foretold a promising career in broadcasting. Rigorous training honed his skills in articulation and modulation, laying the foundation for his future success.


Joining Oman TV and Radio in 1994 marked the beginning of Abdallah's illustrious career. Transitioning seamlessly between roles as a news reader, editor, and reporter, he made significant contributions to Oman's media landscape.


Covering notable events, from accompanying His Late Majesty Sultan on 'Meet the People' visits to reporting live during natural calamities, Abdallah demonstrated unwavering dedication to informing the public.

Through his special radio program, Destination Oman, he meticulously documented the nation's development across its wilayats, from the deserts and sand dunes to valleys, mountains, and sea. “Let's remind ourselves that Journalists serve as the custodians of truth, tasked with the responsibility of delivering news with integrity, impartiality, and fairness. It is incumbent upon us to adhere unwaveringly to professional codes of conduct, respecting the rights of individuals, avoiding sensationalism, and refraining from the dissemination of misinformation,” Abdallah concludes.


He has high hopes pinned on the future of journalism and says smilingly, “By adhering to ethical guidelines, to safeguard the credibility of our profession. Our dedication to ethical journalism not only enhances public trust in the media but also fosters a more informed and enlightened society.”
