Oman’s natural gas domestic production and imports increase

MUSCAT: The total domestic production and import of natural gas in the Sultanate of Oman reached approximately 53.925 billion cubic metres by the end of December 2023, with a 3.6% increase compared to the same period in 2022, which stood at 52.061 billion cubic metres.


Statistics from the National Center for Statistics and Information revealed that industrial projects accounted for 58.7% of natural gas usage in Oman until the end of December 2023, totaling 31.638 billion cubic metres.


The total usage of natural gas by various sectors in Oman is as follows: oil fields - 13.252 billion cubic metres, power generation stations - 8.773 billion cubic metres, and industrial areas - 259.7 million cubic metres.


Non-associated gas production, including imports, amounted to 42.942 billion cubic metres, while associated gas production reached 10.983 billion cubic metres. — ONA
