

Osaka: The ground-breaking work for Oman’s Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka - Japan began in Yumeshima Island on Osaka bay on Monday. The ceremony was attended by Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture and Commissioner-General of the Oman’s pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka - Japan; Dr Mohammed bin Said al Busaidy, Ambassador of Oman to Japan; Manatsu Ichinoki, Deputy Secretary General of Expo 2025; and other officials.
In his speech Al Busaidy said the government of Oman has since ancient times paid attention to strengthening international relations and consolidating international cooperation in everything that contributes to improving life and ensuring its sustainability.
He said: “Today represents for us the beginning of a wonderful journey in which we participate with countries around the world in achieving the sustainable development goals, represented by the sub-themes of Expo 2025, which are: ensuring the sustainability of life, improving life, and enhancing life through communication.
"We seek to make this pavilion to tell an inspiring story about the Sultanate of Oman. It will share with visitors Oman's history and multiple aspects of its cultural, economic and environmental achievements. We look forward to welcoming everyone soon to the Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
Oman’s pavilion, boasting a distinctive architectural design, will symbolise the country’s rich environmental landscape, historical depth and forward-looking aspirations.
The design is the result of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design competition, reflecting Oman’s ongoing commitment to incorporating the traditional architecture of Oman in its global engagements.
