Al Bashayer, Seeb secure spots in Ministry's Shield final

MUSCAT: Al Bashayer Club secured a spot in the final match of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth Shield basketball 2023-2024 by triumphing over Nizwa Club 88-66. Similarly, Seeb advanced to the final by defeating Oman Club with a score of 78-54 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Sunday.


The first clash between Bashayer and Nizwa was thrilling in all its periods, especially the first quarter. Nizwa started the quarter with a three-pointer by Qasim al Qasimi. Bashayer responded by scoring two consecutive three-pointers by Osama al Riyami to take a 6-3 lead. The quarter continued with both teams exchanging attacks and scoring points, with Nizwa scoring 18 points while Bashayer had the upper hand, adding 19 points to end the first quarter in favour of Bashayer 25-21.


In the second quarter, Bashayer started scoring when Cameron netted two points. Nizwa responded with a three-pointer by Qasim al Qasimi, changing the gameplay thereafter as Bashayer managed to score 27 points, while Nizwa scored 9 points, ending the first half with Bashayer leading 54-33.


In the third quarter, Bashayer scored 18 points while Nizwa added 15 points, ending the third quarter with Bashayer leading 72-47.


In the fourth quarter, Nizwa showed defensive and offensive superiority, with their players adding 18 points while Bashayer scored 16 points, resulting in Bashayer winning by 88-66.


The match was officiated by international referee Ahmed al Balushi as the first referee, Rashid al Mashifri as the second referee, and Ali al Sulaimani as the third referee, with Maryam al Zadjali, Maiad al Hamdani, and Hafiz Oulad Ahmed on the table.

The second match started with an attack by Seeb where Rashid al Zahibi scored 4 points, but Oman Club managed to reduce the lead by scoring two points by Kojan Hakim. Seeb's Ahmed al Sanani managed to score two points after a layup to advance his team 6-2. Seeb added 12 points while Oman Club added 8, ending the first quarter with Seeb leading 18-10.


In the second quarter, Oman Club's Kojan Hakim netted a three-pointer. Seeb responded by scoring two points through Brees. The offensive attempts between the teams continued, during which Seeb scored 25 points, while Oman Club scored only 4 points, ending the first half with Seeb leading 45-17.


In the third quarter, Oman Club began their offensive attempts to narrow the gap, with Jamal Blaidour scoring two points after a layup to make the score 25-49. However, Seeb's Hassan al Faraji netted two points after a layup. The third quarter ended with Seeb leading 67-35.


In the fourth quarter, Oman Club showed superiority in scoring, with their players adding 19 points, while Seeb scored 11 points to secure victory by 78-54.


The match was officiated by international referee Essam al Siyabi as the first referee, Ahmed al Khasibi as the second referee and Taha al Amri as the third referee, with Juma al Hanai, Amima al Hajri, and Majid al Akhzami on the table.
