MUSCAT: The Oman Basketball Association (OBA) honored the winners of the Under-23 Youth Basketball Trios Championship and the Open Girls' Championship.
The championship was organized by OBL represented by the Basketball Trios Committee at Al Qurum Beach, with participants of 17 teams from various communities across Oman.
The tournament witnessed strong competition in thier various qualifiers, with fair competition among the participating teams. The teams were divided into groups and played in a league system from the first round, one team from each group qualified for the finals, which were held in a knockout system. The winners then competed to determine the first and second place, while the losers played for third place.
After the conclusion of the youth under-23 Basketball Trios competitions, Eng. Khalfan bin Saleh al Naabi, President of the Oman Basketball association, honors youth team 3 championship title and gold medals, team 0 secured silver medals and team 2 received bronze medals.
While Dr. Ali bin Salam al Yaaribi, Vice President of the Oman Basketball association, crowned girl teams as follows, Zenith team won the championship cup and the gold medals, while Sun team secured the silver medals and Stars team received the bronze medals.
After the award ceremony, Eng. Khalfan Al Naabi, emphasized the importance of the championship to enhance players' skills and promoting the game. The tournament witnessed high technical levels and strong competition among the players, including those from national teams, as well as resident players in Oman.
Al Naabi reaffirmed the association commitment to continue organizing basketball trios’ tournaments across all age groups to nurture talent and improve their levels, aiming to build strong teams capable of competing in future tournaments. Finally, he congratulated the winning teams of the Youth and Girls' Basketball Trios Championship.
