Oman takes part in general meet of ABF in Riyadh

MUSCAT: Khalid al Suleimani, member of Oman Racket Sports Committee (ORSC), took part in the Annual General Meeting of Arab Badminton Federation (ABF) for 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Sawsan Taqwi, President of Arab Badminton Federation in presence of chairman and representatives of the national Arabian federations. As many as 17 countries attended in the meeting namely: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman, Syria, Comoros, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Djibouti, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya.


The meeting was organised as sideline of the Arabian Badminton Tournament which took place in Riyadh, during January 29 to February 2. During the AGM meeting, the members discussed various topics related to development of badminton in the region. Also, the general budget of the federation and the final closing report were reviewed and approved by the members. Later, some of the Arabian countries submitted their request for hosting the forthcoming editions of the Arab Badminton Championship to the officials in Arab Federation for further study and approval.


Al Suleimani said: "I am pleased in representing ORSC in this crucial Arabian meeting to discuss the several ways on the development of Badminton. On behalf of ORSC, I would like to thank all the efforts made by Arabian Federation in organising several events, programmes and activities of Badminton sport in order to take this sport into high level.”


"The future vision of ORSC is to focus in increasing number of courses and events that relate to human resources development in badminton sport through holding series of seminars and workshops that will ensure the improvement of the sport in Oman. ORSC in direct coordination with Arab Badminton Federation will organise series of coaching and umpiring seminars and courses in order to continue in developing the technical levels of the domestic umpires, coaches and athletes,” he said.
