Muscat Film Festival to honour Shah Rukh Khan

Muscat - The 11th edition of the Muscat International Film Festival (MIFF) will be held between March 3 and 7 at the headquarters of the Omani Film Society in Muscat.


The festival will include several competitions, including fiction films, documentary films, Omani short fiction films, and Omani documentary films among others.

The festival will be accompanied by several events including seminars, workshops, and the Festival’s Souq (Market) which is a corner for production companies.


The festival would honor several film directors and movie stars during the five days. The movie stars and film directors to be honored included Indian actor and producer Shah Rukh Khan, Director Satara from Iran, Nelly Karim from Egypt, Hoda Hussein from Kuwait, Oman Abdullah Habib, Mohammed Al Kindi, Buthainah Al Raisi, Taghlub Al Barwani, and Khalil Al Sinani along with Director Yaqoob Al Maqlah from Bahrain and Director Mohammed Bakri from Palestine.


Ghita el Khayyat, Malak Dahmouni, and Abdullah al Shueili will be among the jury committee members.


The festival includes holding many accompanying events, including seminars and workshops aimed at introducing the procedures followed to obtain the necessary licenses to produce a film in the Sultanate in coordination with the competent authorities on this subject, and other courses related to work in the cinematic field.


The jury committees will include some international and local actors and directors. In the feature films category, film critic Ghita El Khayyat from the Kingdom of Morocco will participate as head of the committee.
