Oman's delegation is taking part in the Saudi International Franchise Exhibition, with joint support between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), with the participation of 12 Omani companies.

The exhibition, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the period from January 28 to 31, aims to represent the Sultanate of Oman through Omani companies specialised in the field of commercial franchising and to learn about many investment opportunities in the field.

Hamoud bin Salim al Saadi, Second Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “The participation of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Saudi International Franchise Exhibition comes in conjunction with the efforts made by the Chamber’s Board of Directors in the current period at various levels, which are represented in strategic directions of the private sector aimed at improving the business environment and expanding the base of economic diversification.”

He added that the participation is one of the results of the chamber’s cooperation programme with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority to promote and develop this important sector in the Sultanate of Oman. Furthermore, it is one of the results of the Franchise Initiative, which is one of the chamber’s active programmes through the launch of the second phase of the programme, as it contributed to qualifying a number of Omani companies to make their way locally and internationally in the field of commercial franchising.

“Twelve Omani companies from various commercial sectors participate in the Saudi International Franchise Exhibition as part of the efforts of the SMEDA aimed at supporting and empowering micro, small and medium enterprises to grow and expand, encouraging marketing, promotion of the products and services of small and medium enterprises, in addition to enhancing the skills of entrepreneurs. Even raising the competitiveness of their institutions, and enabling them to provide high-quality products,” said Khalfan bin Saeed al Khatri, Assistant Director of the Marketing and Events Department at SMEDA.

Commercial franchising is one of the most promising economic sectors in qualifying entrepreneurs and SME to become commercial franchisors or enabling them to access the companies granting commercial franchises, as well as paving the way for establishing commercial relationships through specialised companies that bring together the two parties to the commercial franchise and organise the work mechanism between the parties according to the best experiences in the field of commercial franchise.

The participating delegation includes companies specialised in the field of business consulting, restaurants, kitchens, coffee, car care, cosmetics, among others. The importance of the exhibition lies in its being an important business platform for commercial franchise owners who wish to grow locally, regionally and globally. The exhibition also seeks to develop the infrastructure of this important sector locally and regionally, as it provides business owners, male and female, and aspiring investors the opportunity to connect with local and international exhibiting companies that grant commercial franchise rights.

The exhibition is accompanied by several programmes, such as seminars, workshops, and advisory services that support investors in the field of commercial franchising and male and female entrepreneurs.

It is expected that Omani participation in the exhibition will contribute to enhancing cooperation opportunities between Omani companies and Saudi companies, and opening new markets for Omani products and services.
