MUSCAT: “The Oman AI Summit 2024 explores opportunities for economic growth and innovation”, this according to Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), during the opening keynote of the Oman AI Summit 2024, being held at the Grand Millennium Hotel. Al Rawas said the establishment of the Oman AI Summit is a step towards envisioning a desired future of a smart digital environment and sustainable technological wealth. Such efforts will enhance the innovation system, develop capabilities, and promote national (artificial intelligence) AI products and future technologies, positioning Oman internationally in the field of AI.


He further emphasised that AI technologies provide solutions to complex problems, enable companies to increase productivity, and forecast future trends, thereby assisting in decision-making that supports business sustainability.


“The AI sector is a supporting pillar for economic diversification, attracting investments and providing opportunities to expand business operations, enhance competitiveness, and achieve the strategic vision of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry aligned with Oman Vision 2040,” he said.


The Oman AI Summit 2024, endorsed by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, kicked off on Monday under the auspices of HH Dr Kamil bin Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Secretary-General of Oman’s General Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers.


The summit aims to facilitate investment procedures and establishment of foreign companies to encourage investments and attract investors in the field of artificial intelligence. It also highlights the competitive investment opportunities available in the Sultanate of Oman.


Additionally, the summit aims to support development and innovation in the field of artificial intelligence, encourage participants to present new solutions and innovations, showcase the latest technologies and innovations in the field of artificial intelligence, and analyse the best strategies for investing in this field.


The summit witnesses wide participation from officials, experts from both the public and private sectors in Oman, as well as experts in technology and artificial intelligence from different countries around the world.


The summit will discuss three main topics: "Artificial Intelligence and Governments," which will discuss the role of artificial intelligence in achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040, the impact of artificial intelligence on national security and cyber security, and the role of governments in supporting and promoting startups in AI development.


The second topic, entitled "Artificial Intelligence and Business Environment," will discuss artificial intelligence and legal legislations, investment in artificial intelligence and its impact on the digital economy and development, artificial intelligence and its role in developing the financial sector, and AI-driven business innovation.


Meanwhile, the third topic, "Artificial Intelligence and the Economy," will shed light on artificial intelligence and green hydrogen, artificial intelligence and sustainable environment, and the impact of artificial intelligence on logistics sector transformations.
