The Bandar al Khairan Resort project was formally launched on Monday in the presence of Salem bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.
To be completed in 24 months, the project worth RO 36 million is located on the outskirts of Muscat, surrounded by the mountains and the Sea of Oman on a total area of 189, 000 sq m.
Agreements were signed with the Anantara group for the management of the property and
with Al Adrak Trading and Contracting, who will be the main contractor of the project.
With a total exploited area of 49,000 sqm, the resort will provide 121 hotel rooms, restaurants, and facilities that cater to the comfort of visitors and their different tastes, amid stunning views and a charming atmosphere.
The resort will provide an experience through the services provided by the health club, sports club, and various water activities.
Salem bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, stated that the Bandar al Khiran Resort project will support the tourism sector in the Muscat Governorate, in continuation of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with the private sector by providing tourist lands in line with comprehensive tourism development plans.
The Minister said that reaching this stage of the project was the result of continuous efforts and continuous coordination between the various departments and directorates in the Ministry on the one hand and the developer on the other hand.
"We are confident in the developer’s ability to provide a resort that meets the aspirations of visitors and residents based on the shared local experience enjoyed by both the developer and operator, in compliance with the technical and engineering standards for this type of resort. The Ministry will have a role in following up on the implementation of the project to enhance community partnership and local added value to provide job opportunities for Omani youth."
The project will offer 200 job opportunities apart from helping small and medium enterprises in the Al Khiran area to provide products and services, including handicrafts agricultural and fishing products, and small-related tourism businesses.
