Muscat is poised to host the esteemed floral event, ‘Bloom Oman' 2024, organised by the World Association of Floral Artists (WAFA). Running from January 27 to February 1, 2024, at the National Museum of Oman, the event promises a four-day celebration of floral artistry.

Around 100 floral artists from 18 countries, including the Sultanate of Oman, will participate in this grand event, displaying their exhibits through demonstrations, workshops and competitions.

‘Bloom Oman' 2024 serves as a platform for enthusiasts and experts from across the globe to exchange ideas and techniques.

Distinguished international floral designers such as Phubast Chesdmethee from Thailand, who is also Vice-Chairman of the World Flower Council, Madhu Shah from Australia, Shahima Sayeed from Pakistan, and Catherine Mary Gallangher from Ireland, are among the notable participants.

Madhvi Ramesh Khimji, WAFA Oman Honorary President, emphasises that the event not only highlights Oman’s talent, but also promotes cultural exchange, allowing the nation’s rich heritage to shine globally. The event aims to foster creativity and appreciation for the artistic expressions of flowers.

Madhvi, a key figure in placing Oman on the WAFA pedestal, will lead a floral demonstration on January 29. “Our goal is to not only to showcase the incredible talent within our borders, but also to open the doors of cultural exchange, allowing Oman's rich heritage to shine on the global stage. The event fosters creativity with appreciation for the beauty of flowers and their artistic expressions,” she adds.

Additionally, renowned florist Phubast will also conduct a two-hour workshop on January 28.

The ‘Bloom Oman’ 2024 agenda includes a jewellery-making workshop, staging of competition exhibits, judging of competition exhibits and awards, and a General Assembly for visiting delegates and observers. Oman is the sole GCC member registered with WAFA, and is hosting the event for the first time in Muscat and the international event is held every three years.

Key contributors to making ‘Bloom Oman’ a reality include Rita Chaitanya Khimji as Secretary, Poornima Subramanian as Treasurer, and Devyani Sampat as Hospitality In-charge. WAFA, a not-for-profit organisation formed in 1981, transcends international cultural barriers, bringing together fresh ideas to enhance the diversity of the floral art form on a global scale.
