Traditional Crafts Market in Masirah witnesses huge visitor turnout

MASIRAH: The Traditional Crafts Market in the Wilayat of Masirah in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate is one of a significant part of Masirah Winter Forum. It witnesses a huge visitor turnout as a tourist attraction and a marketing platform for craftsmen and productive families. It also has economic, cultural, social and tourist importance in the wilayat.


Samta bint Ali al Iwaisiyah, supervisor of the Traditional Crafts Market, said that market’s participation in the activities of the Masirah Winter Forum aims at highlighting the Omani traditional craft industries as the Wilayat of Masirah is characterized by many traditional craft industries. She added that this market constitutes an integrated umbrella for supporting crafts persons by displaying and promoting their craft industries. The market was opened at the end of last year in cooperation with a number of government and private establishments in the wilayat.

The market serves a wide segment of beneficiaries and provides services to more than 100 productive families. The market provides its services throughout the year which include traditional handicrafts products and family products such as Kohl, burqa, incense, perfumes and Omani sandals. The market also offers the manufacture of palm products and textile products.
