MUSCAT: The annual camel race competitions continued on the second day at Al Fulaij Race field in Barka, supported by the Royal Court Affairs represented by Royal Camel Corps (RCC) and organised by Oman Camel Racing Federation (OCRF).
The second day featured 18 races in the Lagaya category, spanning a challenging 5 km distance. A total of 7 cars, 3 trophies and cash prize were up for grabs in each race. Additionally, two races for human riders covering a distance of 2 km offered 1 car as the reward.
In the first round, Al Zahbiya, owned by Al Hajana Al Sultaneya, owned by Amer al Omari, secured the top spot and was awarded a trophy and a car. In the second round, Shuahin, owned by Ibrahim al Ghafili, claimed the first position, receiving a trophy and a car. Continuing the success into the third round, Mahem, owned by Salem al Saadi, triumphed in the first position, earning a trophy and a car. In the fourth round, Amsiah, owned by Mubarak Al Jidaili, emerged victorious and earned a car.
In the fifth round, Al Sultanah, owned by Mubarak Amer al Habsi, clinched the top spot and won a car. Moving on to the sixth round, Masaaf, owned by Saleem al Jahafi, secured the first position and a car. The seventh round saw Maseera, owned by Ateeq al Zara, claiming the top spot and a car. In the eighth round, Tanbeeh, owned by Hamdi al Draai, took the lead. The ninth round was won by Al Wadheh, owned by Salem al Madhooshi.
Continuing the trend in the tenth round, Al Shaheeniya, owned by Ahmed al Draai, emerged on top. The 11th round was secured by Salil, owned by Shahab al Jahafi. In the 12th round, Al Jazab, owned by Hamoud al Jidaili, claimed the top spot. Moving on to the 13th round, Maznah, owned by Matar al Wahibi, came in first. The 14th round witnessed Buwaida, owned by Ali al Wahibi, emerging as the winner. In the 15th round, Al Fatn, owned by Ahmed al Jahafi, secured the first position. The 16th round saw Mughamrah, owned by Abdullah al Jahafi, taking the lead. In the 17th round, Mutabaah, owned by Saleh al Wahibi, claimed the first position. Finally, in the 18th round, Zafaran, owned by Nasser al Hishami, emerged as the winner.
In the Human Riders Races for 2 km, ‘Shoushra’ for its owner Ahmed al Omari, secured the first place in the first round receiving a trophy and cash prize. In the second round, ‘Ghazlan’ achieved the first place for its owner Hamad al Omari and won a car.
