SHINAS: A ceremony was held on Tuesday to mark the official launch of operational activities of Shinas Port. The launch was in pursuance of a framework agreement signed in August 2023 by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and QSS Maritime Company.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Mohammed bin Sulaiman al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah.

Eng Khamis bin Mohammed al Shammakhi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, said that the ministry hopes that the agreement will contribute to the development of the local economy.

“The company will work in cooperation with all parties to develop the port and the logistics system, which will reflect positively in generating employment opportunities for job-seekers and provide further opportunities for small and medium-sized companies in the wilayat,” Al Shammakhi added.

The event saw a presentation on the future work plan at Shinas Port, which includes expanding the port’s basin and logistics services for ships, establishing a dock for containers, facilitating import and export operations, setting up a hotel and developing veterinary quarantine sites, among other facilities. - ONA
