MUSCAT: The Office of Majlis Ash’shura held an ordinary meeting under the chairmanship of Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, on Tuesday.


During the meeting, the office reviewed a programme for activating the contents of the Royal address delivered at the opening of the first annual session of the Council of Oman’s eighth term 2023-2027.


The office reviewed the response of the Minister of Economy to the question directed by chairman of the Majlis Ash’shura regarding the indicators and results of the Tenth Five-Year Plan. It also reviewed the response of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to several requests raised by members of the council as well as the actions taken by the ministry.


Also discussed at the meeting were a number of follow-up tools submitted by council members including the question addressed to the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning regarding Article 18 of the regulations for land planning controls promulgated by ministerial resolution No 220/2023. It included inquiry about the reasons that led to setting controls and conditions for approving the construction of only one house for agricultural land owners as part of the land planning regulations as well as the method of dealing with the privacy of some agricultural lands surrounded by residential quarters.


The office reviewed a briefing request presented to the Minister of Health regarding some medical services provided by the public health institutions. It included a request for briefing the council about the causes behind the lack of some medicines at public hospitals and the reasons for delaying appointments and the solutions proposed by the ministry to redress this issue.
