During the period January 20 to February 10, the Wilayats of Al Sharqiyah North Governorate will witness winter activities, coinciding with the activation of the winter tourism season in the Sultanate of Oman that will include various events to attract tourists.

In order to stimulate the winter tourism season in the Sultanate of Oman, which starts from October to April every year, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism supervises a group of programmes, events and festivals in various governorates, including the Al Sharqiyah North Winter events. What also distinguishes this season’s events is the holding of bicycle races and motorcycle shows that will be held in the Wilayat of Dima W'attayeen. The bicycle race is divided into three stages. The first is the children’s category 6-12 years old, and the second is the 13-16 years old category for a distance of two kilometres, and the second stage is the challenge and excitement stage and was allocated for two categories, which are the youth category 17-39 years old and the category of 40 years and above for a distance of 61 kilometres, while the third stage was allocated to people of determination with disabilities and for a distance of 32 kilometres. The Governorate Development System is moving forward by holding festivals in the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman to strengthen local administration based on decentralisation and empowering the local community to manage its affairs.

The Sultanate of Oman intends to expand the scope of this experience and evaluate it continuously to include multiple sectors in order to dedicate the role of the local community in growth and development.
