MASIRAH: The Winter Forum 2024 got under way at the Marine Tourism Resort in the Wilayat of Masirah in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate and will last for eight days.
Shaikh Abdullah bin Abdullah Ba’owain, Wali of Masirah, head of the Organising Committee of the Masirah Winter Forum, said that the idea behind the Masirah Winter Forum came in conjunction with the active winter season witnessed by the Wilayat of Masirah to highlight the natural, touristic, heritage and cultural components that distinguish Masirah Island and is aimed at revitalising domestic, regional and international tourism.
The forum encompasses a slew of heritage, tourism and cultural activities and programmes that include the heritage tent which embodies traditional crafts such as textile, kohl, sandal and silverware.
The forum also includes productive families exhibition, women’s market and the government institutions tent (a group of government institutions and the Omani Women’s Association) which introduce services provided to the society as well as spaces dedicated to folk arts, marine arts and children’s games. — ONA
