Muscat: The Social Protection Funds (SPF) started today disbursing social protection benefits to the entitled categories, which cover childhood, old age, orphans and widows, and disability benefits.

A monthly amount of RO10 was disbursed early morning to eligible Omani children across the Sultanate of Oman.

The childhood benefit provides monthly financial support to Omani children from birth until the age of 18.

The government also decided on Thursday to extend the disbursement of the job security benefit for applications that meet the conditions until June 2024.

The program was rolled out to ensure a minimum level of monetary social protection for this segment in support of their needs at this stage.

Meanwhile, the total number of registered beneficiaries in the social protection scheme as of Wednesday reached 1,286,600 registered beneficiaries, including RO10 for childhood benefits, RO115 for the elderly, the benefit for people with disabilities is RO130, while the orphans and widows benefit is RO80.
