The event held at the Omani Automobile Association headquarters concluded on January 13 and was dedicated to providing an inclusive experience for children of all abilities.
The carnival, held under the patronage of Lujaina bint Mohsen Haidar Darwish, Chairwoman, Infrastructure and Technology Management Council, had a diverse range of activities like horseback riding and motorcycle adventures to creative face painting and stage performances, 'Play and Enjoy' created an inclusive space where families came together for fun and laughter.
The carnival featured special corners showcasing products along with fast-food stalls, adding to the festive atmosphere. The collaborative efforts with key partners such as the Fellowship Fund team, Oman Z71 team, and the Saham Volunteer Team elevated the carnival to become a significant platform for community engagement.
All proceeds from the carnival contribute to the Association's ongoing initiatives to enhance services, programmes, training, and rehabilitation for the approximately 400 children under its care. As a non-profit voluntary charitable organisation, the Association relies on such events to sustain and improve the quality of support provided to children across its various rehabilitation centres.
Khadija bint Nasser al Saatiyah, Chairwoman, Association for Children with Disabilities, emphasised that the primary goal of organising the carnival annually is to discover and highlight the abilities and skills of individuals with disabilities.
Khadija added that the event also emphasises the association's role in working towards the integration of individuals with disabilities into the broader society.
She stressed the importance of holding the carnival to actively integrate children with disabilities. "Children with disabilities urgently need recreational activities to engage in their leisure away from the school environment. They need to go out and spend time with their families to enjoy their lives. The association, seeks to activate various activities that integrate and highlight the abilities and skills of children with disabilities in society," she added.
