January 11 is the anniversary of the establishment of the Royal Academy of Management (RAM) under the honorary patronage of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The RAM was inaugurated on January 11, through Royal Decree No 2/2022, in line with His Majesty's vision for advancing human capital in both public and private sectors. This initiative is fully aligned with the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040, aimed at equipping and empowering Omani professionals.


The Academy operates under the esteemed honorary patronage of His Majesty, with the objective of cultivating capable leaders and national talents to strengthen the Omani economy.


Since its establishment, the RAM has been dedicated to nurturing and enhancing leadership communities across diverse administrative levels, with the aim of building an innovative, forward-thinking, and opportunity-generating environment. This is achieved through fostering leadership communities across administrative levels using modern administrative methodologies.

Under National Initiative for the Development of Local Administration, specific programmes cater to the development of their excellencies, governors, and chairmen of Muscat and Dhofar Municipalities, as well as the programme of their excellencies the walis. Engaging 44 participants from 11 governorates across Oman, these programmes encompass 8 dialogue and intellectual sessions, complemented by 2 field visits.


Furthermore, the Academy extends its leadership focus to the Council of Oman, conducting an induction programme tailored for the members - honorees and their excellencies of the State Council and Majlis Ash'shura.


Notably, about 600 individuals representing beneficiaries across various sectors and programmes passed through the diverse programmes and initiatives of RAM. The Academy's programmes and initiatives have garnered insights and feedback from numerous excellencies, esteemed guests, partners and participants.


Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam, emphasised the significance of the Governors' Programme within the broader National Initiative for the Development of Local Administration. He highlighted its pivotal role in addressing decentralisation, governance, and enhancing the efficacy of decentralised practices, emphasising their crucial role in realising economic and social development goals.


Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy, emphasised its significance as a testament to the profound commitment to nurturing leadership within both sectors, fostering a balanced approach.


Dr Al Saqri noted, "The programme reflects the keen interest in developing leadership in the two sectors in a balanced manner, pushes towards a partnership that accommodates the new roles of the government as an engine of development and new administration for the private sector as its operator, to establish a new phase for the future of business in Oman."


Prof Sanjeev Khagram, Dean and CEO of the Thunderbird College of Global Management at Arizona State University, says, “We look forward to collaborating with the Academy in its ambitious and effective efforts in developing leaders of the public and private sectors in Oman to become ready for the future.”

Eng Ahmed al Haddabi, Executive Manager, Strategic Planning Unit, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, says, it was an opportunity to enhance cooperation between us, which will reflect positively on increased cooperation between units of the state’s administrative apparatus.


RAM collaborated with 89 local companies and small enterprises spanning 13 diverse fields, covering leadership, management, and various domains. Through the Academy's initiatives, these partnerships resulted in a substantial rate of benefit for local companies of approximately 32.5 per cent. Additionally, the Academy significantly contributed to the qualification of 24 Omani trainers, and the deployment of 26 facilitators across different governorates played a pivotal role in extensively disseminating knowledge and expertise.


The outreach of the RAM across its diverse social media platforms has been substantial, amassing a remarkable total of 1.1 million impressions and engaging in approximately 529,000 interactions. This active presence reflects broad audience engagement and interest in the Academy's initiatives and content.


RAM hosted numerous visitors from local, Arab and international institutions who shared their impressions of the facility.


Mulham bin Bashir Al Jarf, Oman Investment Authority, described the Academy as an exemplary institution. He was impressed by both its structural design and the competence of its leadership.

Moosa bin Khalfan al Muqbali from the Centre for Strategic and Defence Studies commended the Academy's building for its state-of-the-art technical equipment and highly advanced support resources, acknowledging its modern infrastructure.


Said bin Salim al Hajri, State Audit Institution, expressed admiration for the Academy's distinctiveness, praising its high level of organisation and punctuality.


The RAM has made significant strides in digital services and transformation, introducing over 150 digitised services to elevate the digital user experience. Notable among these initiatives are the My E-space platform, aimed at streamlining user interactions, and an artificial intelligence programme designed to address inquiries efficiently.
