MUSCAT: In line with efforts aimed at achieving the goals of the national tourism strategy and consolidating the status of the Sultanate of Oman as a global tourist destination, the Oman Tourism Development (Company Omran Group) will celebrate the completion of Phase 1 of Al Irfan City (East) through the official opening of JW Marriott Muscat Hotel tomorrow (Monday).

The opening ceremony will be under the auspices of Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.

JW Marriott Muscat Hotel, a 5-star hotel with an investment cost of approximately RO 47 million, features 304 hotel rooms and suites. It is part of the Marriott Bonvoy International Hotel chain and the first JW Marriott hotel in the Sultanate of Oman, serving as a major complement to the first phase of the city's development project and the second completed hotel within it.

The opening of the hotel, which has achieved the (LEED Gold) certification issued by the US Green Building Council, comes as part of the efforts of Omran Group to keep pace with the growing tourism movement in the Sultanate of Oman by enhancing the assets of the hotel group and developing tourist destinations.

The hotel is distinguished by its strategic location in the heart of Madinat Al Irfan (East) and its direct connection to the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, contributing to supporting the tourism movement in general and promoting efforts for the Sultanate of Oman to become a global center for hosting major meetings, conferences, and exhibitions.

Al Irfan City (East), which has completed its first phase with the opening of JW Marriott Muscat, also includes the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, a four-star Crowne Plaza hotel, and a business complex to serve as the headquarters for leading companies such as Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel).

The city represents a vibrant tourist destination that contributes to enhancing social, economic, and environmental aspects, reflecting the pivotal role of Omran Group in the development of the tourism sector in the Sultanate of Oman through urban development projects that support the country's tourism growth. — ONA
