The focus on technology has led to what is known as a human replacement in certain areas labeled as artificial intelligence, specifically with regard to Chat GPT. Most technologies are accompanied by both advantages and disadvantages. However, this article will concentrate on the drawbacks of chat GPT specifically in workplaces and educational environments.


Open AI established chat GPT, which is a non-profit organization that has then transitioned into a for-profit company known for its artificial intelligence research lab. Open AI Company is dedicated to developing artificial intelligence safely and beneficially in order to perform tasks that naturally require human intelligence.


The name ‘Chat GPT’ emerged through collaborative efforts among stakeholders at open AI. It represents the model's role: “Chat – encapsulates its role reflecting its primary purpose that is engaging in conversation or dialogue with users. Utilising the model's architecture through “G – generative, indicating it can generate a text or content based on the input it receives”. “P – Pre-trained, means that the model is initially trained on a large dataset to understand language patterns and context”. “T – Transformer, is the specific architecture designed to consider the context of words in a sentence or sequence”.


Chat GPT powered by AI can impede the value of learning and restrict the aspects of being genuine in both workplace and educational settings. It can influence student’s way of learning and perspectives they might have based on but not fully engage in the learning process themselves.


Students’ heavy dependence on Chat GPT is drastically altering their reliance on genuine human interaction within educational environments. This raises concerns about the potential impact on student’s social skills and their ability to engage in meaningful discussions. Moreover, this shift towards the dependence on Chat GPT hinders creative thinking and limits the ability for innovation. Whether academically or in professional settings. Resulting in, a loss of credibility in submitted reports or even in fundamental skills of composing effective emails.


Unluckily, Chat GPT has a feature to imitate users' writing style. This can be simply implemented through consecutive steps namely by asking Chat GPT to help you in the writing of your article, email or report.
