Muscat: In an effort to improve the economic and social impact of government services in the Sultanate of Oman, His Majesty the Sultan gave his directives to review government service fees. These directives aim to evaluate the current fees in accordance with the government services pricing guide and make necessary adjustments.
One of the key changes is the reduction in fees for the potable water supply service in all areas of the Governorates of Oman. This reduction applies to all categories and includes a significant decrease in the drinking water service connection fee for the residential category. Previously priced at RO 700, the fee has now been reduced to RO 200. This reduction in fees is expected to benefit residents and improve access to clean drinking water.
In addition, the results of the third stage of reviewing government fees according to the government services pricing guide have been announced. A total of 1,539 fees were studied, and as a result, 411 service fees have been cancelled, reduced, or merged. These changes aim to streamline government services and make them more affordable and accessible to the public.
The Ministry of Finance has stated that the relevant authorities will announce the details of these fee changes.
By evaluating government service fees and making necessary adjustments, the Sultanate of Oman is taking steps towards improving the economic and social impact of these services. These changes not only benefit the residents of Oman but also contribute to the overall development and progress of the country.
