Fines revised for sale of e-cigarettes in Oman

Muscat: Salim bin Ali al-Hakamani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), has issued a decision 756/2023 banning the circulation of electronic cigarettes, shisha, and their accessories.


The decision also mentions penalties for those who violate the decision, which include an administrative fine not exceeding RO1,000.


The fine shall be doubled in the event of a repeat violation. If this violation continues, an administrative fine of RO50 will be imposed for each day that the violation continues, provided that its total does not exceed RO2,000.


The seized quantities of electronic cigarettes, shishas, and their accessories are destroyed by the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA).


The previous decision 698/2015 regarding the ban on the circulation of electronic cigarettes and shisha had imposed a ban of RO500, which has been increased to RO1,000 while the fine if the offense is repeated has been reduced to RO50 from RO100.
