MUSCAT: OQ, the integrate global energy group of the Sultanate of Oman, has formalized a strategic partnership with the General Federation of Oman Workers (GFOW) to help strengthen the work environment in the country.


An agreement signed to this effect on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, marked the commencement of a comprehensive partnership aimed at propelling mutual growth and community development. Under the purview of the agreement, OQ and the General Federation of Oman Workers will engage in the exchange of experiences, collective agreements, employee secondment opportunities, awareness programs, employee training initiatives, and the shared utilization of facilities and services.


The agreement was inked by Ashraf bin Hamad al Mamari, CEO of People, Technology, and Culture at OQ, and Nabhan bin Ahmed al Battashi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Federation of Oman Workers. Dr Mahad bin Said Baowain, the Minister of Labour, was in attendance as well.


Al Mamari said the agreement will help build cooperative bridges across organizational tiers. He highlighted OQ's commitment to providing a supportive and productive work environment, with a specific emphasis on supporting the Federation's role in representing private sector workers.


The agreement, spanning three years, is poised to contribute significantly to Oman Vision 2040. Al Battashi emphasized the shared determination of both entities to play a pivotal role in fostering a conducive work environment and upskilling the national workforce to meet the demands of the future Omani economy.


The General Federation of Oman Workers expressed optimism regarding the collaboration's outcomes, affirming its steadfast dedication to fostering positive developments within the national workforce. The agreement arrives at a crucial juncture when the Federation actively engages in initiatives aimed at fortifying work values, empowering the workforce, and representing their interests.


As both entities work on this strategic partnership, their commitment to improving working conditions and fostering social dialogue, signals a collaborative approach towards shaping the future of the Omani workforce and economy.
