Dr Hilal al Habsi elaborates on the significance of Sur's selection, noting its diverse tourism components. From pristine beaches overlooking the Arabian Sea to the Ras al Hadd Turtle Reserve and mountain tourism destinations like Kawadi al-Shab and the Mebam area, Sur offers a multifaceted experience.

The UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kaflaj al Jila, the archaeological city of Qalhat, and the rich, famous heritage and cultural arts further enrich the visitor's exploration.

The Ras al Jinz Reserve beckons for nature enthusiasts as a haven for rare green turtles. This pristine beach is a crucial nesting ground, drawing thousands of turtles worldwide. The reserve's mission is to protect these turtles, ensuring their survival and the continuity of their species. Visitors can observe turtles from a respectful distance, explore the scientific centre, and embark on guided group excursions to witness the magical sight of turtles laying their eggs in the sand pits—a programme designed to introduce the reserve and its ecosystem.
