Muscat: The Omani contestant Abdullah Said al Hakmani has secured the first place in 30th International Competition for Memorizing the Holy Quran, which is taking place in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The Omani reciter excelled in the comprehensive mastery of the Holy Quran, which involves the memorization, recitation, interpretation, and understanding of the Quran’s core objectives.

With over 100 contestants from sixty-four countries and a jury comprising members from nine countries, including the Sultanate of Oman, the competition mainly covers six sections.

The participants had a pre-programme aimed at qualifying them ahead of the contest.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs has taken part in this competition as part of its keenness to serve the Holy Quran, and encourage people to memorise it and understand its meanings and implications.
