MUSCAT, Dec 25

The Ministry of Labour (MoL), has confirmed that registering employment contracts for private sector employees does not affect the eligibility to compete for government jobs.

In a statement, MoL said, 'The Ministry of Labour job applicants in the private sector refrained from registering employment contracts due to fear of not being able to compete for public sector jobs."

'Therefore, the ministry notes to citizens that public sector jobs are open to everyone and workers in the private sector have the right to compete for them.' it added.

The statement emphasised the necessity of registering employment contracts in order to protect the rights and duties of the worker and the employer, and that years of service are counted in the workforce register as practical experience that gives preference in competing for better opportunities.
