Royal Cavalry grabs Oman Derby Cup

Royal Cavalry clinched the Oman Derby Cup, through the horse 'Zakir', led by Al Mutasim al Balushi, who achieved a hat-trick in the tenth race of the season 2023-24.


The event organized by the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation, at the Al Rahba track in Barka.


HH Sayyid Fatik bin Fahr al Said, the chief guest, in the presence of a crowd of horse owners,trainer and racing fans. The race includes eight rounds, six rounds are allocated to purebred Arabian horses, one for purebred crossbred horses, and one round for purebred Arabian horses (local production), the seventh round’s competitions are devoted to the Oman Derby Cup.


The horse 'SSR' won first place In Buraimi round for purebred Arabian horses, foe a distance of 1,200 metres, owned by Salim al Rashidi, and the horse 'RB Tussimdreem' won the second place, owned by for HH Sayyid Saud bin Harib al Said.


The 'mare Raifa' was able to win the Dhofar round for purebred Arabian horses over a distance of 1,600 metres,owned by Said bin Nasser al Kalbani, and the horse 'Ziyad' achieved second place, owned by Hamad bin Saif al Nasiri.


The horse 'PF Dhafer' won first place in the Al Wusta round for Purebred Arabian Horses (local production), over a distance of 1,600 metres, owned by Hamoud bin Saif al Raqqadi, the second place was achieved by the horse 'Dhawi' owned by Royal Oman Police.


" Tareeq Al Nayef' owned by Hilal bin Khalfan al Hasani snatched Al Dhahirah round for purebred Arabian horses, for a distance of 2,000 metres, and the second place was won by the horse 'Baher Muscat', owned by Sultan bin Ali al Sunaidy.


'Last Tradition' claimed the Musandam round for purebred hybrid horses over a distance of 2,000 metres, owned and trained by Ahmed bin Abdullah al Marzouqi, while the horse 'Maqsoud' finished second, owned by Said bin Daoud al Balushi.


The 'RB Yas Man' was able to win Al Sharqiyah round, owned by HH Sayyid Saud bin Harib al Said, followed in second place 'Aseel Nahiz' , owned by Zaher bin Amer al Ghunaimi.


The horse 'Zakir' owned by Royal Cavalry clinched the Oman Derby Cup at Muscat round for purebred Arabian horses over a distance of 2,000 metres, followed in second place 'GS Athbah', owned by Jamal bin Salim al Shabibi.


The horse 'Djelnoor' concluded the tenth race by winning first place in the Al Batinah round for purebred Arabian horses for a distance of 2,200 metres, owned by Sultan bin Ali al Sunaidy, and the horse 'RB Blast F', owned by HH Sayyid Saud bin Harib al Said, finished second.
