Nizwa : Al Dakhiliyah Governorate commemorated International Arabic Language Day recently with a vibrant celebration at the Oman Across Ages Museum, with the theme ‘Arabic is the language of poetry and the arts.’ Organised by the General Directorate of Education in Al Dakhiliyah, in collaboration with the Sultan Qaboos Institute for Teaching the Arabic Language to Non-Native Speakers and the Oman Across Ages Museum, the event brought together educators, students, and esteemed guests.

The ceremony, held under the auspices of Dr Faisal bin Ali bin Rashid al Zaidi, Wali of Manah, featured a speech by Salim bin Said al Kindi, emphasising the profound significance of the Arabic language. Al Kindi highlighted Arabic's literary richness and called for collective efforts to instil a love for the language in the younger generation.

A captivating presentation titled ‘The Birth of Arabic Calligraphy from the Omani-Yemeni to the Jazm Calligraphy’ by Dr Asmahan bint Said bin Abu Bakr al Jarro showcased the evolution of Arabic calligraphy. The event also featured a student opera titled ‘Arabic Sings for the Homeland’ and a dialogue session with poet Dr Ghalia bint Mohammad bin Issa al Zubaidi.
