In a bid to bolster the power sector’s performance to align with national priorities, the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) hosted on Sunday, December 24, 2023, a comprehensive meeting with CEOs of Oman's electricity companies. The agenda focused on reviewing past achievements, dissecting 2024 strategies, and identifying avenues for enhanced service delivery and system resilience.

The meeting, chaired by APSR Chairman Dr Mansoor bin Talib al Hinai, saw engaging discussions with representatives from Oman Electricity Transmission Company, Rural Areas Electricity Company (Tanweer), and Nama Electricity Distribution Company.

A key highlight was the review of 2023 targets within Oman Vision 2040. The companies reported exceeding expectations in localisation efforts, achieving a remarkable 98%. Additionally, 100,000 smart meters were installed, contributing to efficient grid management. Furthermore, electrical losses were reduced to 10%, and average connection times for new subscribers were trimmed down to a commendable 3 days.

Moving forward, the meeting delved into strategic plans for 2024. Emphasis was placed on projects that drive subscriber satisfaction, optimize service provision, and strengthen the nation's electricity infrastructure.
