MUSCAT: The State Council discussed a report prepared by the Enhanced Economic and Financial Committee on the draft state budget for the fiscal year 2024. The report will be returned to the Council of Ministers alongside the recommendations of the State Council and Majlis Ash’shura.
The State Council held its second meeting of the first annual session of the eighth term under the chairmanship of Shaikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, on Wednesday.
Addressing the meeting, the chairman of the State Council said: “We should take into account that we are discussing the draft budget in light of the wise approach of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik aimed at achieving the economic and social goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the national programmes and plans in order to speed up the recovery of the national economy and enhance financial performance through measures taken to achieve financial sustainability and raise the country’s credit rating.”
Dr Dhafer bin Awad al Shanfari, Head of the Economic and Financial Committee at the State Council, delivered the statement of the Enhanced Economic and Financial Committee’s report on the state’s general budget for the fiscal year 2024 in which he noted that the committee gave due consideration the opinions and visions raised by the members and included them in the final report.
The chairman of the Enhanced Economic and Financial Committee pointed out that the committee, while preparing the report, highlighted the importance of focusing on the framework of macroeconomic policies on the one hand and the objectives of the Tenth Five-Year Plan as well as the Oman Vision 2040 on the other hand. The committee concluded the report by providing detailed recommendations and visions concerning the six axes of the report. — ONA
