Al Amerat secure maiden beach soccer league title

Al Amerat club won the title of the 2023-24 beach soccer league with two rounds remaining as they thrashed Salalah 10-2 in the 12th round on Sunday on the sand courts of the Sultan Qaboos Complex Youth Culture & Entertainment in Salalah.


The triumph enabled the Muscat-based team to reach an unassailable 30 points that ensured the championship. Last edition’s runners-up Al Shabab are in second position with 21 points. Masirah are in third place with 18 points while Saham are fourth with 14 points.


Al Amerat club is featured with many experienced and youth faces including some players from national beach soccer team namely Khalid al Oraimi, Amjad Abdullah, Mashal Hilal among others.


Seven teams are competing in this season’s league including Al Amerat, Al Shabab, Saham, Masirah, Sur, Salalah and Mirbat. This is the second edition of the league after the opening edition in the previous year. Al Musannah were crowned champions of the first edition after beating Saham in the final rounds. Al Shabab were positioned as runners-up while Seeb club finished in third place. However, the third placed team of the last edition did not take part in the league this year.

Champions Al Amerat dominated in the match as they managed to end the first set at 4-0 while the second set finished at 7-1 before the last and third set completed at 10-2. The goals of Al Amerat were scored by Khalid al Oraimi (3), Amjad Abdullah (1), Mashal Hilal (1), Humaid Juma (2), Ahmed Rabee (2) and Mahmood Salim (1). Salalah’s goals were netted by Mahmood Salim and Abubaker Ali. This was Al Amerat's 11th win in the league during their undefeated campaign. Their strikers managed to score 70 goals while they received 34 goals only.


In another match, Al Shabab secured a 8-5 win over Masirah at the sand court of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Friday. Northern Batinah team Saham recorded a huge win over Mirbat as they won 10-1 in Salalah.
