MUSCAT: The Oman national football team players are through their fourth day of the domestic preparatory camp in Muscat which started on Monday. As many as four training sessions were completed by the Red Warriors till now including morning and evening training sessions that varied from fitness, physical and tactical exercises.
The chairman of Oman Football Association (OFA) attended the training session on Tuesday which began with a brief speech by head coach Branko Ivankovic who encouraged the players to deliver their best performance in the forthcoming assignments. Also, he requested from the players to raise their learning output during the preparatory period these days and utilise all the technical lessons ahead of the major events.
The warm-up exercises kicked off in the beginning of the training session under supervision of the fitness coach. Later, the players went to execute different technical and tactical sessions that shaped the players readiness for the upcoming assignments. The training session ended by an internal match among the players who were split into two teams.
Following the completion of internal warm-up gathering, the delegation of national team will travel to the UAE to complete the second phase of the preparatory camp on Friday. The forthcoming preparatory external camp in the UAE will feature two crucial friendly matches, first against China on December 29, and second against the UAE on January 6. Both matches are set to shape the team’s readiness for the upcoming main assignments namely 2024 AFC Asian Cup in Qatar next January and the Preliminary Joint Qualification (Round 2) for the Fifa World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027.
