MUSCAT: Fisheries Development Oman (FDO) and its subsidiaries have officially approved procedural tools for records management in collaboration with the National Records and Archives Authority. This is in accordance with the Document and Archives Law issued under Royal Decree No. (2007/60). The law aims to empower organizations to preserve and manage their records in accordance with the best administrative practices, ensuring efficient retrieval, preservation, in line with retention schedules.


The signing of these procedural tools ensure speed in referencing and the availability of records, in addition to, placing the documents within the context of their origin and compiling them into files based on relevant topics to protect them, and ensuring the preservation of the individuals and groups rights. . It also guarantees the adaptability and expansion of the classification system improvement and continual development.


Fisheries Development Oman and its subsidiaries, in collaboration with the National Records and Archives Authority, have developed a document management system in accordance with legal requirements. This system encompasses all types of documents that reflect the tasks and activities undertaken by the organization.


Additionally, it includes a classification system for these documents by assigning a single classification code to each record related to a specific subject in order to ensure the swift search and retrieval of records.


The system also includes records retention schedules, which determine the legal duration for preserving records and whether they should be disposed of or permanently stored by the National Records and Archives Authority. This will contribute to empowering Fisheries Development Oman and its subsidiaries to manage their records in accordance with best practices, to ensure quality and effective business operations.


The procedural tools for records management were signed by Dr Hamad bin Mohammed al Dhawyani, President of the National Records and Archives Authority. Signing on behalf of FDO and its subsidiaries were Eng Nabil bin Salem al Bimani, the Group CEO; Badr bin Saeed al Naabi, the Chairman of Board of Directors of International Seafood Company (Simak); Mirdas bin Najib al Rawahi, Chief Financial Officer of Al-Wusta Fishery Industries Company, Sasikumar Palath Kumran, CEO of Oceanic Shrimp Aquaculture Company and Al-Mu'tasim bin Mohammed al Bahlani, Acting CEO of Blue Waters Company.
