Four people get jail sentence, fine for illegal poaching

Muscat: Four people were sentenced to six months imprisonment and fined RO 1,000 along with confiscation of items for illegally killing an Arabian gazelle.


In an online statement, the Environment Authority (EA) said,” The Appeal Court in Dhofar Governorate has sentenced four poachers to a six-month jail and a fine of RO 1,000 for illegally hunting an Arabian gazelle.


The second offender will also be sentenced to a three-month jail for hunting grouse birds, and a one-month jail for illegally possessing traditional weapons. T


Meanwhile, the authority urges people to safeguard their fungal life and not to expose themselves to them by any means, affirming that doers will be subject to legal accountability.
