OmanDerm conference highlights advances in dermatology, skincare

Muscat: The two-day 7th OmanDerm International Conference and Exhibition, organised by the Oman Dermatology Society in cooperation with the Ministry of Health (MoH) at the Grand Millennium Hotel, concluded on a high note with participants sharing expertise in skincare as well as preventing skin diseases.


The conference covered numerous topics such as acne, aesthetic medicine, atopic dermatitis, biologics and psoriasis, dermatosurgery, dermato therapeutics, nail diseases, paediatric dermatology, photobiology and laser, pigmentation, latest hair transplantation technologies, and skin allergies.


The conference was opened by Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, on Friday.


As part of the conference, a medical and scientific exhibition was also held with the most important studies in dermatology and laser, latest medicines and devices used in diagnosing and treating dermatology, in addition to the latest plastic surgery devices of future skincare.


The International Conference and Exhibition, conducted alternately in Muscat and Salalah, held in the presence of the MoH under-secretaries and President of the Middle East International Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine Association along with a number of representatives of dermatology societies across the world marked the congregation of dermatologists, aesthetic and aging medicine physicians, plastic surgeons, allergy and immunology specialists, paediatricians, family physicians, general practitioners, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and residents and medical students from the Middle east region, the US and UK.


Speaking to the Observer, Dr Aisha al Ali, President of the Oman Dermatology Society conference, said that the conference majorly aimed to provide an opportunity to present the latest developments in diagnosing skin diseases, the possibility of utilising artificial intelligence (AI), reviewing the state-of-the-art treatment methods locally and globally, as well as providing the opportunity for the pharmaceutical and medical equipment firms to display their advanced technologies in the exhibition.


“Additionally, the conference hosted 15 scientific sessions with the presence of 35 lecturers from Oman and abroad, and presented 45 scientific papers, and three specialised symposiums were held side by side during the two days. The intern doctors also had the opportunity to present their research in the scientific posters contest during the Conference,” Dr Aisha added.


The advanced conference and exhibition which is the most anticipated by the professionals as well as the companies dealing in skincare products, highlighted the most advanced methods of diagnosis and treatment of various skin diseases, and cosmetic lasers in the Sultanate of Oman.


Also, the event provided an unparalleled opportunity for companies specialising in derma care to introduce the latest products and services and meet face-to-face with leading dermatologists and key decision-makers from around the world.

The conference, attended by approximately 500 experts from Oman and abroad, aims to bridge scientific gaps, exchange experiences, and host leading experts in the field of dermatology and aesthetic medicine.
