MUSCAT: The Brazilian coach Joran Vieira was in best feelings and joyous mood after leading Seeb to their second straight Super Cup title against Al Nahdha in both occasions.
The 2022 AFC Cup Champions players showed very solid and an outstanding display to overcome their opponents Al Nahdha side at the Sohar Sports Complex on Thursday night. Abdulaziz al Maqbali was the star of the match after hitting hat-trick in the match to deliver a thrilling 3-1 victory to his team.
Al Maqbali broke the deadlock in the 3rd minute, before defender of Al Nahdha Ahmed al Matroushi equalised in the 11th minute. Then, Al Maqbali made it to 2-1 in the 29th minute before sealing the 3-1 victory over the opponents in the 37th minute.
“It was a great win as the team managed to lift the prestigious Super Cup. We had played very well against the same rival few days ago in the HM Cup Championship but we lost the game. We cannot win every time despite our performance was good in the previous match. However, this Super Cup is very important for us as we approved and showed for the people that we worked on same way and achieved the target. In this thrilling match, the final touches from players were much better and finishing the scoring attempts were great,” coach Joran Vieira said post the match.
“The wish was to erase the negative result which happened couple of days ago in the prestigious HM Cup. This is happened and now our focus is on the OFA Cup and Omantel League titles. I have a mixture of perfect boys in the squad. They are fantastic on the ground and listen to the coach’s directions properly. They delivered their best quality on the pitch. Many of the players are playing together for more than four years and this helped to have a great harmony among them,” he added.
Responding to Al Nahdha as a tight rival in the match, he said: ”They are very good team and there is a domestic competition between us. We will play against Al Nahdha this season for five times and it was important for Seeb to win Super Cup match. Abdulaziz al Maqbali was the star of the match and he could have scored more than three goals in the match. He is a very serious, professional and hard working player. He is an active player even in the training sessions. I am very glad and proud on his performance during the Super Cup match,” the Brazilian coach said.
Coach Vieira concluded his statement that he came to Seeb club to win titles and leave legacy. “Wherever I am working, my name was written. Hence, I want to leave a proper legacy at Seeb club too,” he signed out.
