MUSCAT: Seeb spikers added another title to their kitty after defeating Oman Club 3-0 to emerge champions of the 2023 Volleyball Super Cup in Muscat on Monday night. The triumph meant, Seeb won the Super Cup title for the third time in a row.

In a thrilling clash at the indoor hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Seeb players produced top show to end all the three sets in their favour at 26-24, 25-21 and 25-18.

The match began strongly from both sides as they were seeking for a positive start. Seeb spikers including Saud al Mamari and Adam al Jalbobi assisted the team to take the lead after a tough competition in the opening set as they ended it at 26-24.

In the following set, Oman Club made good efforts to take lead through right defending and perfect attacking towards opponents by Ali al Shibli and Muhanad al Rashdi. However, Seeb players benefited later on from the mistakes made by Oman Club players to overcome the advantage and won the set 25-21.

In the deciding set, there was no quick response from Oman Club spikers as Seeb players continued their solid display. Later on, Oman players tried in some part of the third set to make a comeback during the remaining minutes but Seeb’s experience prevailed in the end to win the set and match at 25-18.

After the completion of the match, the chief guest of the match Sayyid Salim bin Musallam al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of Ministry of Labour for Human Resources, delivered the cup to the captain of Seeb team in presence of Eng Ibrahim al Maqbali, Chairman of Oman Volleyball Association (OVA), and Seeb board members.

The head coach of Seeb team, Jamal al Mamari, praised the players performance. “This is the eighth title for me with Seeb team and it is the 10th and 12th for some players with the club. Thanks to the efforts made by the board members in volleyball sport. Our focus now shifts to shine in the external events,” he said.

On the other hand, Seeb are leading the Oman First Division Volleyball League 2023-24 with 18 points while Al Salam are positioned in second place with 15 points.
