

MUSCAT: The Office of Majlis Ash’shura held its third regular meeting of the fist annual session under the chairmanship of Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, on Tuesday.
The Office of Majlis Ash’shura reviewed the topics of the ministerial statements proposed to be presented during the first annual session (2023-2024) of the tenth term (2023-2027).
Also discussed at the meeting were the action plans of the standing committees each within the scope of its specializations.
The Office also reviewed the council’s desire presented to the minister of housing and urban planning regarding strengthening social housing programmes. It included an introduction to the social housing programme supporting limited-income citizens and social security families, its most important objectives and implementation plans in its regulatory and legislative frameworks and identifying its beneficiaries.
The desire included a detailed explanation of the variables of inflation and gross domestic product. It stressed the importance of re-studying the eligibility conditions for beneficiaries and raising the amount allocated to the programme to provide a decent living for citizens.
