Marsa, Muscat Triumph at Al Mouj Muscat Basketball Tourny

MUSCAT: The Marsa team clinched victory in the men's 3X3 basketball competition, while the Muscat team secured the girls' title at the Championship, organised by the Oman Basketball Association with the support of Delil Oil Company.


The championship unfolded from December 1 to 2 at Al Mouj Muscat, featuring eight competitive teams to promote and expand 3X3 basketball among the youth.


The awards ceremony was under the auspices of Engineer Khalfan bin Saleh al Naabi, President of the Oman Basketball Association and Dr Ali al Yaribi, Vice President of the association.


The tournament played in a round-robin format, showcased strong and exciting matches among the eight participating teams divided into two groups. The matches provided plenty of excitement and competitiveness, delighting the spectators at Al Mouj Muscat. Following the competitions, Eng Khalfan al Naabi awarded the gold medals and the first-place trophy to the Marsa team, consisting of Said al Saadi, Bassam al Busaidy, and Mahmoud al Suli.



The GHOSTS team, Mike Gacil Qamar, and Mohamed Hussain secured the silver medals, while the Oman Club team, consisting of Basim al Muslimi, Jalal al Muslimi, Mohsen Khairallah, and Fahad al Ajmi, received the bronze medals.


In the girls' competition, Muscat team composed of Abeer al Ismailiyah, Fatima al Numaniyah, Shams al Dhahha al Khunji, and Reema al Mughairiyah, clinched the first-place trophy and the gold medals, while Bellte team secured the second-place position.


After the awards ceremony, Eng Khalfan al Naabi, praised the artistic level of the championship. He highlighted that the Al Mouj Muscat 3X3 Basketball Championship was the first tournament organised by the association to promote the game, especially in a public venue frequented by many families and young people. This provided an opportunity for people to become familiar with the game and its rules, particularly those related to 3x3 basketball.


Al Naabi added that the tournament's success was attributed to the partnership with Al Mouj Muscat and the support from Delil Oil Company. He emphasised that the tournament produced several promising players, both resident players and amateurs, who could become valuable assets for clubs looking for male and female players.
