Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Dr Alain Berset of the Swiss Confederation held an official session of talks at Al Alam Palace on Thursday.
At the outset of the session, His Majesty the Sultan reiterated his welcome to President Berset, wishing him and his accompanying delegation a pleasant stay.
On his turn, the President of the Swiss Confederation expressed his utmost thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the Sultan for the warm welcome and hospitality.
The session explored areas of cooperation between the two countries and means of promoting them in various spheres to serve the joint interests.
The two leaders exchanged views on the regional and international developments and reviewed a set of matters of mutual interest.
The official session of talks was attended from the Omani side by HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers; HH Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister; Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance; Dr Hamad bin Said al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation; Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health (Head of the Mission of Honour); and Mahmoud bin Hamad al Hassani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Swiss Confederation.
Meanwhile, it was attended from the Swiss side by Dr Thomas Oertle, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Sultanate of Oman; Ambassador Maya Tissafi, Head of the Middle East and North Africa Division at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs; Nora Kronig Romero, Head of the International Affairs Division and Vice-Director General of the Federal Office of Public Health; and members of the official delegation accompanying the guest.
After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the President of the Swiss Confederation held a closed-door session. — ONA
