Muscat: Oman LNG has signed an agreement with the South Sharqiyah Governor’s Office to finance the establishment of the Masar Waterfront Project in Sur.

The project will give a boost to the recreational facilities that are available in the Wilayat of Sur for tourists.

The 1.9 km waterfront project will include a children's playground, recreational spaces, walking and bike tracks, restaurants, car parking, prayer rooms, and public restaurants.

The project is expected to generate job opportunities for the local youth.

South Sharqiyah governorate is currently undergoing a developmental transformation with a myriad of projects valued at RO17.7mn.

These projects are in alignment with the Oman Vision 2040’s emphasis on sustainable and balanced development across governorates.

In 2021 and 2022, the governorate spent around RO13.336 million on various development projects, with an additional RO4.347 million projected for the remainder of the current year.

Among the key projects is the beautification of the area around the commercial market in Sur (Phase One), with contracts already underway for design and supervision.
