Embassies mark 53rd National Day

MUSCAT: A number of Oman embassies abroad celebrated the 53rd National Day by holding receptions on the occasion. In Tunisia, Dr Hilal bin Abdullah al Sinani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Tunisian Republic held a reception on the occasion of the 53rd National Day at the Sheraton Hotel in Tunis.


The Tunisian government was represented during the ceremony by Dr Mohamed Ali Boughdiri, Minister of Education, Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Shaibi, Minister of Religious Affairs, Tunisian political officials, heads of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions, representatives of Arab and international organisations, consuls, military attachés accredited to Tunisia, university presidents, academics, media professionals, artists, intellectuals and Omani students studying in Tunisia. During the reception, a documentary featuring the Omani Renaissance was screened, along with microfilms highlighting Oman Vision 2040.


In Netherlands the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the Kingdom of the Netherlands celebrated the 53rd National Day. On the occasion, Dr Shaikh Abdullah bin Salim al Harthy, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, held a reception in The Hague.

The reception was attended by Eric Vervall, Secretary-General of the Royal Palace, the envoy of King Willem-Alexander of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Nazhat Shamin Khan, Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, senior civil and military officials, representatives of private sector establishments, ambassadors accredited to the Kingdom of the Netherlands and officials from the International Court of Justice and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.


In Abu Dhabi, the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in the United Arab Emirates celebrated the 53rd National Day. On this occasion, Sayyid Dr Ahmed bin Hilal al Busaidy, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the UAE hosted a reception in Abu Dhabi.

The reception was attended by Shaikh Saif bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Suroor bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Shaikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.


The reception was also attended by Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, senior officials and heads of the Arab and foreign Diplomatic Missions accredited to the UAE.

Also, the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Brunei Darussalam hosted a reception on the occasion of the 53rd National Day under the auspices of Irma bint Said al Kathiriyah, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam.


The government of Brunei Darussalam was represented in the reception by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development.

In Jeddah, Salim bin Mohammed al Busaidy, Consul General of the Sultanate of Oman in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, hosted a reception on the occasion of 53rd National Day.


The reception was attended by Trad bin Fahad Al Sharif, Under-Secretary of Jeddah, consuls general of Arab and foreign countries, representatives of international organisations to the KSA, academics, media persons, intellectuals and businessmen.

The Embassy of Oman in Russia held a reception in Moscow on the occasion of the 53rd National Day. Hamoud Salim Al Tuwaih, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation, head of the mission, delivered a speech in which he outlined various aspects of the friendly Omani-Russian relations. He stressed the permanent nature of Omani policy, which, he said, is based on well-founded principles.


On the sidelines of the reception, models of Omani costumes and traditional women’s jewellery were displayed. The event saw the distribution of Omani books and publications that highlight the country’s history, accomplishments and relations with countries of the world. The exhibits included tourist brochures that reflect Oman’s march of development and progress in various fields.


The ceremony was attended by Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, ambassadors of Arab and friendly countries from Asia, Europe and Africa, Russian government officials, intellectuals, academics, media professionals in Moscow, Russian businessmen and a number of Omani citizens and students studying in the Russian Federation.
