The Oman garden at Doha Expo has been celebrating the diversity of the Sultanate of Oman's landscape and people. It presents over 1,600 plants and shrubs, all carefully nurtured and transported from Oman by the Oman Botanic Garden team.
The garden is presented as a collaboration between the Foreign Ministry of Oman, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. Doha Expo runs until March 2024 and is open every day of the week with free entry to all.
Throughout the Oman garden, there are five narrative threads that explain Oman’s position at the forefront of the world’s green transition.
CARBON CAPTURE
Urgent action must be to reverse climate change. Oman has enough rock to mineralise all the CO2 ever made by man. In this regard, 44.01 is an Omani company at the forefront of decarbonisation. Its groundbreaking technology uses peridotite rock to capture carbon.
OMAN BOTANIC GARDENS
Opening soon in Oman, the Botanic Gardens project is a world-class project that will inspire people to conserve and cherish the biodiversity and botanical heritage of Oman.
GREEN HYDROGEN
Through the development of a green hydrogen industry, Oman is driving innovation in clean energy and high tech agriculture.
AFLAJ DIPLOMACY
Over millennia, the sharing of resources has shaped Omani culture and diplomacy. The ancient aflaj water network is a key to Oman’s identity as a 'friend to all'.
WADI DAWKAH
Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, Wadi Dawkah is striving to become the most sustainable and ethical source of frankincense in the world.
