MUSCAT: Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Secretary-General of Majlis Ash’shura, said that the contents of the Royal speech delivered by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on the opening of the first annual session of the eighth term of the Council of Oman, constitutes a road map for the upcoming period for the Council of Oman in particular and the Sultanate of Oman in general.

Al Nadabi said that the contents of the Royal address touched on the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the realization of further development and prosperity to achieve the aspirations of the Omani people.

The secretary-general of Majlis Ash’shura pointed out His Majesty’s emphasis on the role of the Council of Oman in the past periods and the initiatives it presented through its members. This, he said, constitutes an important base from which the Council of Oman starts its tenth term with a steady resolve to add more achievements in the roles assigned to it. The powers of the Council of Oman are determined by the Basic Law of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman to strengthen legislation supporting various economic and social fields with the aim of achieving the comprehensive development goals.
